Can I Get Your Two Cents On #SustainablistDesignVote?

Can I Get Your Two Cents On #SustainablistDesignVote?

For the longest time, I’ve been wanting to do more community oriented projects, and on our end, #SustainablistDesignVote has been nothing but a wonderful expereince. I really enjoyed sharing more insights into our design process, and seeing so many of you share your thoughts in our votings and the comment sections.

Since the first round of #SustainablistDesignVote was so much fun, I would love to make this a regular thing, and before I get started with planning the next rounds, I’d love to hear any comments and suggestions you might have to make sure we’ll make this the best experience possible for everyone! If you have a couple minutes to spare, it would be absolutely wonderful if you could fill out the little questionnaire I set up here. Your help is so appreciated!

It's the Weekend! Are You Working?

It's the Weekend! Are You Working?

It's a Saturday afternoon, and after a coffee date with a new friend and colleague this morning and then a birthday brunch afterwards, I was in the middle of what I call "light working" – you know, a few emails here, drafting some ideas there – when thoughts on working on a weekend began circling around my head, so I wanted to share some of them with you. Like always, I'd love to hear yours, too, you're warmly invited to continue this conversation in the comments!

Threads of Syria: Interview with Jaron from Artisan & Fox

Threads of Syria: Interview with Jaron from Artisan & Fox

Whenever we make something with our own hands and mind, we add a layer of meaning, from the time we spend carefully selecting materials to the thoughts and dreams we infuse our makes with. Making is such a powerful thing – it connects us with others, helps us form connections and build friendships, encourages us to share our skills and knowledge, creates safe spaces, and can even prevent isolation. All of this is even more valuable for makers in less privileged situations than most of us, like the 25 Syrian women living in the Chatilah refugee settlement in Lebanon where they are part of Threads of Syria.

The Reason Why & Where We're Headed

The Reason Why & Where We're Headed

If you're following my journey on Instagram, you might have seen my bio change again and again over the past couple of weeks. With the end of the year approaching, I’ve been thinking a lot about this past first year of being self-employed and about where I want to take my business, and, as random as it may sound, the challenge of condesing all of that into 150 characters helped me learn more about the value I want to add with my work ...

Thoughts for Stressful Times

Thoughts for Stressful Times

Starting into a particularly busy week today, I shared a mantra that I keep repeating to myself recently whenever I feel overwhelmed with my to-do list on Instagram this morning: the world won’t end if I don’t get everything done. It does sound incredibly obvious when you say it out loud, even when you only repeat it in your head, but still if have found this little reminder very helpful. When I feel tense or anxious, I'll try to get to the bottom of what exactly stresses me out, and then come up with a mantra tailored to calm this fear or stress. Saying it out loud (or even having my husband repeat it to me) gets me safely to the other end of moments of anxiety, and helps me refocus my energy. I loved reading about all of your thoughts, routines and mantras for stressful times, so I thought I'd share a few of them!
