Hello and welcome to the first feature of TWC knits! Many of us might now the phenomenon of falling down the Ravelry rabbithole – I'm definitely guilty as charged. Browsing through new patterns and projects can keep me busy for hours, and as a designer, stumbling upon new The Wool Club projects really makes my heart sing. I'm deeply thankful to each and every one of you who decides to invest their precious time to knit one of my designs, and I'd love to share your beautiful makes, so I created this new series to shine a spotlight on members of our wonderful community and their favourite TWC knits ...Read More
Have you ever noticed that your (row) gauge is different when you work in the round? It is for most knitters, even if just slightly, and that's mainly because our tension varies between knit and purl stitches. If you're, for instance, making a stockinette stitch sweater with the front and back knit flat and the sleeves knit in the round, it is very likely that your row gauge for the sleeves will be different from the front and back. I always love chatting with other creatives (and who doesn’t love a glimpse behing the scenes?), so I couldn’t be happier that Clare Devine from The Fibre Co. has agreed to do a little interview with me. I hope ...Read More
In all honesty I'll have to admit that I might have been a bit biased when Sonja from Blacker Yarns told me about this year's birthday blend and asked if I'd be interested in reviewing this new base. Blacker Yarns is one of my absolute favourite yarn companies – we share core values like the importance of ethical and sustainable processes, and I admire what they have done and continue doing for the European yarn industry and our knitting community. Plus I haven't met a single one of their bases I didn't like (love, to be exact!). That being said it feels only fair to say that I kind of anticipated a love affair with Brushwork, but still I found myself in awe when I had it on my needles for the first time. Before I continue gushing, let's get to a few yarny facts.Read More
