Can I introduce you to one of my absolute favourite beauty products? The packaging is by far not the only thing that's truly "green beauty" about Weleda's Skin Food – nothing but natural ingredients create one of the most effective all purpose moisturizers I ever met. It's relatively rich and thick, but not at all only a good fit for treating dry spots.
For those of you who are interested in the fine print, I've listed the full declaration of ingredients at the bottom of the page. Skin Food is available in two sizes, 30 ml and 75 ml (shown here), at around 7-8€ for the larger size.
What I love about it
With skin care, for me, it's all about what's in it and how it has been made. Thinking about everything we so easily absorb through our skin and into our system, I try to be as conscious as possible when it comes to choosing what I intentionally put on my skin. While the formula is rather on the heavy side, I've found that it absorbs relatively quickly and doesn't leave my skin feeling overly greasy after gently patting it in. It feels and smells luxurious, nurturing and nourishing – exactly what I'd expect from a product called Skin Food. Bonus points for Weleda's overall brand philosophy (part of which is that they never tested any of their ingredients or products on animals), the NATRUE certification, and the affordable price tag.
What I use it for
I keep a tube around at all times, and use it for my hands on a daily basis. Every night, I'll moisturize my hands with a generously-sized amount and let it absorb for a moment, and if I feel like giving myself a nice at-home manicure, I'll also treat my cuticles with it. As for my face, my skin is probably a very classic example of combination skin - dry and oily areas happily living side by side, all in one face. It changes a bit with the seasons, too, and I try to adapt my beauty and skin care routine to that wherever possible. With typically drier skin during the colder months, I'll pat Skin Food onto the area around my eyes and wherever I have particularly dry spots pretty regularly. Before heading out for a long winter walk or when I know I'll be spending quite a bit of time out in the cold, I'll use it allover my face. I've heard people swear by it for everything ranging from healing scrapes and burnes to doubling as a highlighter, so I think it's safe to say that Skin Food is a product you can really get creative with!
